It is a new music trimming feature integrated with the muvee Reveal auto video software.

According to muvee the Music Trimming Tool can be used with multiple music tracks to create personalized musical collages to fit the action of the video.

PR Type Person Blurb as follows:
“In earlier versions of muvee Reveal, users were able to use multiple songs, they had to always start the song from the beginning,” explained Terence Swee, muvee CEO. “Now, with the new Music Trimming Tool, you can select the middle section of the first song, the last section of the second song, etc. and muvee Reveal will seamlessly stitch the multiple music segments together, automatically cross fading between the tracks. You can even ask Reveal to normalize the volume between music segments so you get a consistent sounding medley in the end to use as the bed for your production.”

More PR Type Blurb not as a quote but just as gushy!
The new Music Trimming Tool was developed in keeping with muvee’s commitment to taking the complexity out of movie making and making it easy enough for even the most inexperienced users. The company’s fast, automated approach also appeals to consumers who want to quickly create and share professional-looking home movies with friends and family, but don’t have the time to edit.

To be honest I quite like the muvee products especially for people who really are not into futzing around editing home video projects. Although it seems quite unlikely that Reveal™version 8 can do what it says automatically… it actually can!

list of free utilities to help for those of you using your general purpose computer for video editing. In the course of doing something mindless today I suddenly remembered two more that I completely forgot at the time.

Not sure really how I could forget these because both of them are great tools to have.

The first one is an audio editor and audio manipulation software. I know I already recommended Audacity in the last post on this subject but this one is a little more user friendly.

The program is called Power Sound Editor Free and is just crammed with features and functionality… and beside, ya can’t beat the price!

You can take a look at it here at Power Sound Editor Free

The other free software I forgot to mention is specifically for those of you doing DV.avi video capture from standard definition tape based camcorders.

Most video editing software is actually four or more types of software crammed into one. Video capture, video editing, video titling and video output of some kind like DVD or whatever. Most of the consumer level video programs tend to be “jacks of all trades and masters of none.”

DV.avi capture can sometimes get a little problematic because the sheer size of the files being transferred and more importantly, the sustained rate at which the data has to be transferred. The video capturing part of the software can’t stop the process of transfer to catch up if the computer is struggling.

If the video editing software does fall behind then the program starts to “drop frames.” That means it just skips a few frames to catch up.

The correct and tolerable number of dropped frames is actually ZERO! Ifyou do get dropped frames then in the editing stage or the rendering stage you will have problems.

The answer to that is another very small and very simple little utility called WinDV. It is a standalone program so you don’t actually install it, just plonk it down on your hard drive wherever you want…don’t forget where!

Because it is purpose built for only capturing DV.avi it manges the Windows memory system very well and I think you have to be kicking your computer while you are capturing video to get it to drop frames.

You can download it at this link here: WinDV

Ok, this time I think that’s all… but then again I may think of something else!

Audio Editing Features

Audio Editing

How to Choose Video Editing Software

Video Editing Software Reviews

Audacity

Audio Editing Program

Audio Editing Software

Audio Manipulation

Level Editors

Nero Wave Editor

Project Time Line

Software Audio Editing

Video Editing Software

Video Editors

When it comes to audio editing in video editing software it is important to understand that I am assuming you are looking for video editing software, not audio editing software!

All current mainstream video editors offer at least some audio editing ability and all offer the ability to add separate tracks to the project time line. The sophistication of these audio editing features vary from product to product but as an overall deciding factor it is not really that important.

In saying that I mean that the features or lack of them are unimportant, not that audio control in video editing software is unimportant. Sound, and your ability to create it in tune with what you are visually presenting is a vital element in video editing.

At the pro level of video editors you will of course experience a far superior level of audio editing control but that doesn’t mean you cannot do well with the consumer level programs. All you need is a little imagination and some free software!

If you are going to demand pro level audio editing then you will need dedicated pro software for that. However at the moment there is a very serviceable free, open source audio editing program available called Audacity. This program can do all sorts of audio manipulation and sound control and let’s face it…you can’t beat the price! There is also another called Power Sound Free that is a little easier to use and very good.

For those of you with any Nero suite already loaded there is an audio editor already included called Nero Wave Editor and it is quite good too.

All of the software mentioned here can handle Dolby 2 channel as a bare minimum and many can handle 5:1 Surround (or above).

Of the choices below the most versatile is probably the Magix Movie Edit Pro program with Corel VideoStudio Pro X2 coming in second but in saying that I personally would not lend too much weight to that in choosing video editing software. I would definitely get the “video” part sorted before I worried about the “audio” part.

In the case of needing a “tie-breaker” on deciding which video editing software. audio editing would be a sound point to break that tie. (No pun intended!)

Audio Tracks.

The video editing software you choose should offer at least two audio tracks to play with in addition to the sound in the main video track and the sound in any additional video tracks. That leaves you enough room for music, narration or sound effects without having so many that you need to send it to a professional studio to be mixed!

Auto Music.

An added feature to look for but not essential is a feature that come with Corel VideoStudio Pro X2 and CyberLink Power Director 7. Its called SmartSound and is a feature that allows you to add reasonably suitable generic background music to your videos.

The program can actually create a music track in a theme to your liking and to an exact length which is a godsend in editing. Now don’t expect that the music itself is going to set the world, or you, on fire but used discreetly it can be quite an asset especially in montage sequences or slide shows.

It is important to understand that the very first horrifying realization you will have when you begin video editing is the sound. Pro videos are set up to the nth degree to make sure everything is right whereas the home user is just switching on the cam and firing at will or as necessary!

Inbuilt microphones on camcorders leave a great deal to be desired so oft times it is handy to be able to kill the audio and swing in a little mood music!

So to wrap it up. Yes audio control is vital in creating a pleasing video production but in choosing video editing software that is suitable for you audio editing features are of a slightly lesser importance.
<p
