Video Editing Software Choices – Easier Than You May Think

I came across this article in the Washinton Post and it got me to thinking. (Not one of my greater strengths but… hey! I gave it a shot anyway.)

First I thought to myself dang! It must be great to have a job at that place cos’ you can throw any old half arsed piece of writing about a subject together, get it published and get paid!

But the real problem I had with it was that a bunch of people are actually going to read it and believe what is written because after all it’s in a “real” newspaper and all.

The article starts with this:

“In the dreams of people who write photo and video-editing software, we all take time and care to edit our multimedia output into thoughtfully curated productions that strangers willingly sit through.”

Boy! As someone who deals with both photo and video editing software all the time this statement is so far off center it’s not funny!

I speak to people from this industry constantly and they are vitally concerned with making their software user friendly and relevant to their market. Very often they don’t execute as well as we would like but to characterize the entire industry with such e generality is just silly.

The author then goes on to do his “in-depth” analysis of the available video editing software all the while managing to avoid just about every effective software brand at every possible level!

The real scene is that there has never been such a wide variety of video editing software available to the consumer at all levels. To say otherwise is to draw attention to your own lack of research more than anything else. Speaking of research, ever since that internet thingy took off it’s amazing how easy it is to do some research… just sayin’.

Right now there are a number of very effective video editing suites at the “easy to use level,” a heap of them at the consumer level, a few at the “prosumer” level, aand a good choice at the pro level.

On top of that there are totally automatic programs such as Muvee Reveal as well as some great multimedia suites with excellent video editing capabilities from Roxio, CyberLink and Nero.

Similarly the process of making a choice from this wide array of products is not that hard as long as you keep in mind a few key points on how to choose video editing software.
