Things certainly seem to be moving along (no pun intended…you’ll see in a minute) in the video editing software department at the moment.
Last year we had Cyberlink Power Director 7 ramping up from a previously simple wizard based program into a fully featured consumer program. Corel improved upon the already pretty good VideoStudio with the Pro X2 incarnation and more recently Magix Movie Edit Pro 15 was released and it too packs a pretty powerful feature punch.
Today came the news that the latest contender in this arena has stepped up to the plate and it’s a Russian outsider called Movavi. Movavi has been around for a while and for what it was it was a pretty decent if simple video editor.
They have announced today a new release called Movavi VideoSuite 6 and judging by the list of features it looks like they are also wanting to get into the ring with the big boys. (I seem to be a bit sporty today!)
Here are some highlights from the press release: (I’ll try to cut out the self-serving cheesy bits that come in all these press releases…who writes these things!)
“Movavi announced today a complete overhaul of its VideoSuite product – a complete suite of video and DVD tools – with the release of the cutting-edge Movavi VideoSuite Version 6. With more than 50 brand new features and tools, the video and DVD program includes all of Movavi’s leading video processing programs, giving users unprecedented power over their video and media resources.”
“Among the amazing new features of Movavi VideoSuite 6 are the ability to: convert any video, including High Definition (HD) video, to any format or device; to edit video on a timeline using the powerful new video editing module; to capture video from MiniDV camcorders and webcams; to download online video from YouTubeTM and other websites; to rip, backup and copy unprotected DVD programs; to burn data, audio, video CDs and DVDs; and even to create ISO disc images.”
“Incorporating the brand new version of Movavi’s video converter program, Movavi VideoSuite 6 allows users to easily convert videos and unprotected DVDs between all popular formats and devices, supporting over 40 media formats (including HD) and devices. Users can rip unprotected DVDs in a single click and save videos and DVDs on any mobile device: iPod, iPhone, PSP, Zune, PDA (including BlackBerry), Creative Zen, cell phones, and more.”
“Existing Movavi VideoSuite customers will welcome the 30% discount they receive when they upgrade to Version 6 at http://movavi.com/suite/new/upgrade.html. To learn more, visit www.movavi.com.”
